Privacy policy
Last updated 25 October 2026. This notice is for people who create an account or upload a graph. It is not legal advice to you as a farmer.
Who we are
Paddock Pulse is a web app that reads soil-moisture graphs and suggests Full and Refill points. It is run by Lance Dale (sole trader, Australia). Contact: lancejdale@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account: email, password hash (held by our database provider, never seen by us), plan name, AI credit balance. To give the sign-up reads only once, we keep a one-way fingerprint (hash) of each email address that has claimed them, even after an account is deleted.
- Farm data you type or upload: farm and paddock names, crops, rates, graphs (PDF, CSV, Excel, screenshots), AI write-ups and suggested millimetres.
- Payment: handled by Stripe. We receive your email, plan, and whether a payment cleared. We do not store full card numbers.
- Device: approximate region from timezone or a
?region=link so we can show the right currency label. - Farm location: the town or latitude/longitude you set for a farm (or your device location, only when you tap "Use my location"). It is saved with your settings and sent to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com, servers in Europe) to get the rain and evapotranspiration forecast, and the place name you search for is sent to Open-Meteo's place search. We do not track your location in the background and we do not sell location data.
- Probe connections: if you connect a probe account (for example Sensoterra), your password is sent once to log in to that vendor and is not stored. The access key the vendor returns is stored on our server only, never in your browser.
Why we collect it
To run your login, save your farms, run the graph reader, show local weather, and charge the plan you picked. We may also use the graphs you upload and the lines you confirm to improve the graph reader. You can opt out in Settings ("Don't use my graphs to improve Paddock Pulse"); your graphs are then used only to give you your own results. We do not sell your data.
Who else sees it
- Supabase (our database and sign-in provider) — accounts and farm records.
- Stripe — checkout and invoices.
- AI providers in the United States — xAI and Anthropic receive the graph image, the paddock name and numbers on it, and a short prompt so they can suggest lines. This means your graph data is processed outside Australia (in the US). These providers process it to return the answer to us. Do not upload a file you are not allowed to share with them.
- Open-Meteo — your farm's latitude/longitude, for the weather forecast.
- Netlify — hosts the website.
- A reseller you arrived through (for example Pines Automation) may be told that an account they introduced has paid, so they can be commissioned. They do not get your graphs unless you send them.
How long we keep it
While the account is open. If you ask us to delete the account we will remove farm records we control within a reasonable time, except invoices we must keep for tax, and backups that age out on their own cycle.
Your rights
You can access or correct farm data in the app. You can email lancejdale@gmail.com and ask for a copy or deletion. Australian Privacy Act and South African POPIA rights apply where those laws cover you. If a reseller gave us your email, they should have had a reason to share it.
Children
The app is for adult farm and advisor use. Do not create an account for anyone under 16.
Changes
We will date a new version at the top of this page. Continued use after that date is acceptance of the new notice.
